INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION SERVICES

An International Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows a client to connect multiple International offices through a shared data network and reduce calling costs between offices by treating them as "on-net".

International VoIP Break-out creates a connection between the client's VPN and the International Public Telephone Network (PSTN). Doing so can aggregate international calls and lower termination costs for customers.

Through this solution Telefónica is able to gather the external traffic of a client and manage through Telefonica's Network in place of another local/national service provider.

Three possible ways to transport the service:

  • Telefonica's VoIP VPNs (for Telefonica customers) - for this presentation purpose we are only considering this way of connection.
  • Point to Point Connection (for non-Telefónica clients - with some SLA and QoS included)
  • Internet Public Network (without SLA or QoS)
This is a value-added service for a Telefónica customer with an International private VoIP VPN. Telefónica adds or enhances the CPE VoIP routing equipment to collect the customer's outgoing International traffic, and route it to its destination using the most cost-effective path.
