PREPARING TO TRAVEL

Remember to make sure all your travel and personal identification documents are in order before your trip. You will be asked to provide them repeatedly during your travel.US residents will be asked to present a valid photo identification card before boarding a plane. International travelers will need to provide a passport valid for at least six months past the date of travel.

 

if you are traveling internationally, please keep in mind that you must first obtain a tourist visa. You should contact the American embassy or consulate in your country of residence to apply for a visa if you don't have one already. Remember to make two photocopies of your passport, one to give to someone at home and another to carry separately, in case your passport is lost. Call the nearest embassy or consulate and the local police to report a lost or stolen passport.

 

WEATHER & TIME ZONE

Average temperatures in Miami range from a low of 68º  F to a high of 80º  F in April. The city, and most of the state, is in the Eastern Standard Time zone (Greenwich Mean Time minus 5 hours).

 

WHAT TO PACK

Pack everything you'd need in any other major city except clothing for cold weather. Lightweight suits and business casual attire are appropriate for daytime meetings and presentations. A light sweater or jacket will suffice for evenings.For social and networking events, casual elegant attire is recommended. You should also bring light, cotton clothing and a pair of sandals to wear during your time off.

 

Remember to bring a carry-on bag that includes everything you might need in case your luggage is lost: a change of clothes, medications, spare contact lenses or glasses, all forms of money and any important documents.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Telefonica will provide transportation to the Biscayne Bay Dinner Cruise, Networking Art Reception, Tropicana Casino Night, Golf Tournament, Sailing Regatta and Spouse Program venues. Transportation pick-up will be at the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Continous shuttle service to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel will be provided from the secondary hotels. Buses will run every 20 minutes starting at 7:00 AM. Taxis can be picked up at each hotel by dialing the front desk or contacting the hotel concierge. Jogging

Accessible from the front of the hotel, a 1.3 mile outdoor jogging path circles the island of Brickell Key. It offers breathtaking waterfront and city views. A jogging map can be found in your guest room.

 

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center is luxuriously modern and features views of the infinity pool and Biscayne Bay. The equipment has integrated on board entertainment systems so you can watch TV or listen to music while training. SAFETY, MEDICAL EMERGENCIES LOST PROPERTY

For all police, medical or fire emergencies, please dial 911. For stolen property or non-emergencies, the nearest City of Miami Police office is located at 1300 SW 12th Avenue in the 33129 zip code. The telephone number for non-emergencies is (305) 643-7170.

Should your luggage be lost in transit, visit your nearest airline baggage office. You'll be required to provide a general description of the lost luggage, a list of valuable items and your contact information. The airline will tell you when you can expect your luggage to arrive and will deliver it to the hotel.

PERSONAL EFFECTS

There are several shops at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, as well as on Brickell Key, the island where the hotel is located. You can shop for personal effects at Gardener's, the local market. You will also find a dry cleaner, beauty salon and florist on the island. Major supermarkets, pharmacies and convenience stores are located in Downtown Miami, just over the bridge at the northern end of Brickell Avenue.
